Baton Rouge, Louisiana – John Engler, a longtime Baton Rouge resident, passed away on November 7, 2024, at the age of 68, following a brief illness.
His sudden death has left his family, friends, and community in deep sorrow.
John Engler, known for his warm personality, generosity, and sense of humor, will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Born on February 15, 1956, in Baton Rouge, John was the firstborn son of Paul and Margaret Engler.
He grew up in a close-knit community, developing a passion for building things from a young age, which led him to become a licensed contractor.
John started his own successful business, Engler Construction, in the late 1980s, where he built a solid reputation for quality work and strong client relationships.
In addition to his career, John was a dedicated family man, married to Elizabeth "Liz" Engler for 42 years.
He leaves behind his wife, children Michael and Emily, and grandchildren Oliver, Amelia, and Grace.
John’s commitment to the community was also evident in his volunteer work with organizations like Habitat for Humanity and the Baton Rouge Food Bank.
His funeral will be held on November 12, 2024, at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church, followed by a celebration of his life at the Baton Rouge Community Center.
