Brooklyn, NY – Dünyamin Turna, a long-time resident of the area and known to many as a homeless man who spent over six months battling for his life at Coney Island Hospital, passed away recently.
Turna had been receiving assistance from friends and acquaintances for his rent and daily expenses during his difficult time in the hospital.
His passing has left a profound impact on the community that rallied around him in his final days.
Friends, who respected his wishes, have pledged to fulfill his final request—to be laid to rest in his hometown of Konya, Turkey.
A fundraiser organized by Ahmet Donmez, the Gassal Imam, aims to help cover the funeral expenses and honor Turna’s last wish.
“We want to honor his memory by supporting his family and fulfilling his final request,” said Donmez.
Turna’s friends and supporters have shared messages of condolences, with one user writing, “May his soul rest in peace, and may we fulfill his wishes with compassion.”
His passing has brought the community together, as they work to support his family during this difficult time.
